Glenstone Museum pavilions set in the meadow landscape in Potomac, Maryland

Potomac does not have a downtown, a convention center, or a row of ballrooms, and that is exactly what defines its event calendar. This is an estate community in Montgomery County, a short drive northwest of Washington, DC, where the important gatherings happen at private clubs, on private lawns, and inside one storied conference property. The hosts are philanthropists, nonprofit boards, private-school families, and executives entertaining at home. The standard is personal, and the scrutiny is close.

A charity gala under a tent on a River Road estate. A benefit dinner in the clubhouse at TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm. A leadership retreat on the 83 acres of the William F. Bolger Center. A school auction that has to raise real money in one night. None of these settings comes with a standard production package, and each one runs on rules set by a club, a homeowner, or the county.

We produce events across Potomac end to end: planning and management, technical production, show execution, and event creative. One partner, one team, from the first site visit to the final load-out. Our home base is in Washington, DC, a short drive up River Road, so our crews, rental relationships, and club experience are already here.

The market, from people who work it

Potomac's event map has three settings, and each one produces differently.

The private clubs anchor the formal calendar. TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm, on Oaklyn Drive inside the gated Avenel community, is a PGA TOUR TPC Network club with a championship course and clubhouse rooms built for member dinners, weddings, and sponsored benefits. Just east on River Road, Congressional Country Club carries a Bethesda address at 8500 River Road, and it belongs to the same River Road circuit: its Blue Course has hosted U.S. Opens and the KPMG Women's PGA Championship, and its galas set the tone for the region. Both clubs work the same way. A member sponsors the event, the club sets the rules, and everything else follows. Dress codes, vendor access, load-in windows, and house catering policies are fixed long before we arrive, and we plan inside them from the first conversation.

The estates are the second setting, and they are pure Potomac. Along River Road, Glen Road, and the Falls Road corridor, hosts open houses and grounds that were never designed for events. A tented gala here means building the venue before we build the show: tenting and flooring, generator power, catering staged away from the house, restrooms, lit paths, weather holds, and a valet plan, because a long private drive and a two-lane road are the only way in and out. Done well, nothing in the region matches it. Done casually, the neighbors, the weather, and the county all get a vote.

The third setting is the William F. Bolger Center on Newbridge Drive, Potomac's one large conference property, with the historic Stained Glass Hall, Benjamin Franklin Hall, meeting space for groups up to about 500, and guest rooms on site across 83 acres. It carries the retreats, conferences, and multi-day programs that need lodging and a general session under one roof, which matters in a community with no hotel cluster. Potomac Village, at the River Road and Falls Road crossroads, supports the calendar with the restaurants and services every production ends up needing.

Running through all of it is the Montgomery County noise ordinance. Quiet hours begin at 9 p.m., with a 55-decibel limit at residential property lines, so amplified sound, band placement, and load-out timing get designed early, not negotiated on the night. River Road and Falls Road traffic shapes truck routing and guest arrivals the same way. We build those realities into the plan, so show night feels effortless for the host and the guests.

Why Simple

Most production companies meet Potomac for the first time on load-in day. We are already here. Simple is based in Washington, DC, minutes away, and our work across Potomac, Bethesda, and the River Road corridor means club rules, estate logistics, and county limits are familiar ground, not research.

That fluency shows up where it counts. We know a club event starts with member sponsorship, not a rental inquiry. We know an estate gala is a construction project with a party at the end, and we staff and budget it that way. We know when the Bolger Center is the right answer and when only a tent on the right lawn will do.

And because events, video, and marketing live under one roof at Simple, your gala film, auction video, stage design, and social content come from the same team that produces the night itself. The story your donors see on screen matches the room they are sitting in, because one team built both.

We deliver what we say we will. We treat your budget, timeline, brand, and reputation with care. As we get to know your organization, we become the partner you call first.

Frequently asked questions

Can you produce our event at TPC Potomac or Congressional if we are not members?

Club events require a sponsoring member, and that sponsorship comes before any booking. We work directly with the club events team, plan load-ins inside the windows the club allows, and produce within its rules on dress, catering, and vendor access. If you have a sponsor, we handle everything production-side from there. If you do not, we will tell you early and help you choose a setting that does not need one.

What does a tented estate event in Potomac actually require?

More than a tent. A typical build includes tenting and flooring, generator power, catering staging, portable restrooms, lighting for paths and drives, a rain and wind plan, and valet or shuttle service for guests. We survey the property first, map truck access and power, confirm county limits, and then design the event around what the grounds can honestly support.

What rules apply to outdoor events and amplified sound in Potomac?

Montgomery County quiet hours run from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. on weekdays and 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. on weekends and holidays, with a 55-decibel limit at a residential property line. We design speaker placement, band schedules, and load-out timing around those limits and confirm any permits your specific property and event size require.

Where do larger conferences and retreats meet in Potomac?

The William F. Bolger Center on Newbridge Drive is the market's full-service option, with the Stained Glass Hall, Benjamin Franklin Hall, extensive breakout space, and guest rooms on 83 acres. For programs that outgrow it or need a hotel setting, we also produce in nearby Bethesda and Rockville, and we will recommend honestly based on your group size and agenda.

How far in advance should we book production for a Potomac gala?

For peak spring and fall gala season at the clubs and on the best estate dates, nine to twelve months out protects your date and your vendor choices. Bolger Center programs and smaller club dinners often come together faster. Tell us your date and your setting, and we will tell you plainly what is possible.

What size events do you produce in Potomac?

From 40-person donor dinners at a private home to tented galas and Bolger Center programs of 500. The production plan scales to the property and the guest list, and the same team carries your event film and marketing content alongside the live program.
